Replit runs entirely in the browser — no local setup — and has added "Agent," which can scaffold and build a working app from a natural-language description, including provisioning a database and deploying it.
It is popular for prototyping, teaching and quick internal tools; production applications with complex infrastructure needs are more often built with a traditional local/cloud setup.
